It’s nearly impossible for the top college basketball coaches to dodge the NBA question. We’ve seen it time and time again where college basketball coaches are willing to take on the challenge of coaching professionals. Who wouldn’t want to coach the best of the best? Kansas head coach Bill Self definitely seems to be intrigued of the possibility. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame Monday night at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, a feat Self said he was incredibly “proud” of, having grown up in Edmond, Oklahoma. Self has cemented himself as one of the top college coaches throughout his 10-year tenure at Kansas. He holds an outstanding record of 300-59, while winning nine consecutive Big XII Regular Season Championships and winning the National Championship in 2008. Self has done it all at KU, maybe it’s time for a new challenge. The Kansas coach was asked if he would head to the NBA one day. “It hasn’t really tempted me because I haven’t had that many people talk to me about it,” Self said. “But at some point and time, sure, I think it would (tempt me). It would be great to be able to match wits with the best athletes in the world, but I’m certainly happy where I’m at. “I’m not saying I never would (coach in the NBA) but I’m locked in.” Dont worry Kansas fans, Self is locked up for the next nine years, but never say never.
