Kentucky predicted to land a five-star small forward

The Kentucky Wildcats currently have five players committed in the 2024 class. 

Jayden Quaintance, Boogie Fland, Billy Richmond, Somto Cyril, and Travis Perry currently make up Kentucky's recruiting class, which is the second-best class behind the Duke Blue Devils. Two of Kentucky's commits, Quaintance and Fland, were just announced as McDonald's All-Americans, so we will see them on April 2nd in Houston, Texas, for this event. John Calipari is pushing for one more player in the 2024 class who would give Kentucky a shot to pass Duke for the number one class. 

That player is five-star small forward Karter Knox, who, like Fland and Quaintance, was named a McDonald's All-American. Knox is ranked as the number 18 player in 247Sports composite rankings. Chris Fisher of CatsPause recently put in a crystal ball for the Wildcats to land Knox. This crystal ball came right after Knox was in Lexington for a visit during Kentucky's matchup with Georgia. On3's recruiting prediction machine gives Kentucky a 42.8% chance to land the five-star. 

Director of Scouting for 247Sports Adam Finkelstein had this to say about Knox, "Karter Knox, the younger brother of NBA player Kevin Knox, is a true three-range scorer on the wing. He’s not quite as big as advertised, but he compensates with long arms, a naturally strong build, soft hands, good timing in a variety of different circumstances, and a versatile skill-set. While he’s a shooting threat from three with a soft natural ball and compact release, and even capable of making some threes on the move, he’s proven to be most efficient inside the arc to this point in his career. He has very good perimeter footwork, can attack to either side off the dribble without wasting much motion, and play through contact while doing so. He is a consistent pull-up threat in the mid-range area and showing an increased willingness to punish smaller defenders in the post. He’s shown flashes of passing ability and unselfishness, and is also a quality rebounder on the wing. Defensively, he’s not the most laterally quick, but has enough size and length to be effective. The key is being consistently locked in though as he has times, particularly with his high school team, where he’s shown less sense of urgency on that end of the floor."

If Kentucky is able to land Knox, this recruiting class will be fully stacked, and the Wildcats could have the number one class in back-to-back years. Fland has made it clear that he is recruiting Knox hard, and I have a good feeling Knox will choose to play his college hoops in Lexington like his older brother Kevin did a few years ago.
