PLAYERS: Shabazz Muhammad
The LA Times has published a report this morning, claiming that the father of UCLA star freshman Shabazz Muhammad may have been lying about his son’s age. The publication says that Ron Holmes, Muhammad’s father, lied about his son’s age, saying he was born in 1993 – while his birth certificate on file with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health shows he was actually born in 1992 – a one year difference. According to the UCLA men’s basketball media guide, he was born in Los Angeles on Nov. 13, 1993. But a copy of Shabazz Nagee Muhammad’s birth certificate on file with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health shows that he was born at Long Beach Memorial Hospital exactly one year earlier, making him 20 years old — not 19 as widely reported. Think it’s not a big deal? Think again. Playing against weaker competition growing up allows players to get noticed easier, be given more attention, and ultimately move up the class rankings. If the allegations are true, the...

UCLA star's age misrepresented?

UCLA star forward Shabazz Muhammad is not the age of 19 as UCLA’s media guide list indicates, and his father reportedly attempted to cover it up.

Shabazz Muhammad lied about his age, so TruTV gave him an asterisk (Picture)

Shabazz Muhammad was exposed Friday for having lied about his age to appear younger and thus more desirable as an NBA prospect. Muhammad was born on Nov. 13, 1992, but his birthday in UCLA’s media guide listed him as born in 1993. That makes him 20 and not 19 as has been stated. When Muhammad was introduced by TruTV Friday during UCLA’s NCAA Tournament game against Minnesota...

Why Muhammad's draft status could drop

As if it wasnt already a given, UCLA head coach Ben Howland started spinning the conversation following the Bruins' final home game against Arizona earlier this month when he declared it was the last game for his star freshman Shabazz Muhammad at new Pauley Pavilion. For Howland, it was a no brainer. Its just kind of obvious when a kid is a lottery pick that theyre going to...

Shabazz Muhammad’s birth certificate proves that he is a year older than he led UCLA to believe

Shabazz Muhammad, UCLA's star freshman, is actually 20, not 19, and the LA Times has dug up the birth certificate to prove it.

UCLA Basketball: In Context Of 2012-13 Season, Shabazz's Age-Gate Makes So Much Sense

Word's out - UCLA hoops freshman Shabazz Muhammad is a year older than you thought he was. In a time where lying about your age is commonplace -- hell, I wish I would've done so to make myself seem smarter; no one listens to the foul-mouhted 20-year-old college kid -- this isn't all that egregious, right? It's only a year, and it isn't as if anyone cares that...

UCLA Coach, Ben Howland, Not Fired Yet After Disappointing Season Despite Reports Saying He Was Dismissed

On Saturday night, multiple reports came out saying UCLA head coach Ben Howland had been fired after the Bruins were axed in the first round of the NCAA tournament. UCLA is saying those reports are not true. “Contrary to multiple media reports this evening, UCLA has not fired men’s basketball coach Ben Howland,” UCLA athletics spokesman Nick Ammazzalorso said in a statement...
