Why coaches paint themselves in these types of corners we will never know. Granted, it may be true that John Calipara isn’t interested in coaching in the NBA at the moment. But as we all know, moments change very quickly.Calipari doesn’t need the money. He doesn’t need to prove he’s a great coach. But he still has that NBA stain on his career that you have to believe he wants to get rid of.But according to Calipari, he’s fine with his situation at Kentucky and he doesn’t see himself leaving for the foreseeable future.Kentucky coach John Calipari said Wednesday he isn’t going to coach the New York Knicks or any other NBA franchise for the foreseeable future.“Kentucky is the best job in basketball coaching,” Calipari said. “Why would I leave? We just won the national title. We’re chasing UCLA.”Calipari said no NBA team has contacted him about an opening, including the Knicks, which are being coached by Mike Woodson on an interim basis after Mike D’Antoni was fired.“All of those teams

Calipari says he’s staying put and we should believe him

This shocks me more than it probably shocks you. I am not basing this belief on anything that John Calipari has said in the past. I believe that in the long run, he is full of lies and deceit. I believe that his eyes would be brown even if he wore blue contacts. However, when he says that he is staying put at Kentucky, I actually believe him 100%. You just knew that as soon as Coach...

National title puts Calipari over the top

NEW ORLEANS The show keeps getting bigger, and we have to justify it. If there is so much more hype than ever before, then what we're seeing now must be better than anything we've seen before too, right? Well, when Kentucky beat Kansas 67-59 Monday night to win the national championship, what did we just see? One excellent team and one very good one that fights hard....

Worth the Wait for John Calipari

Worth the Wait for John CalipariFor decades, one of the best college coaches in the game has been John Calipari.  Everywhere he’s gone he has brought programs to both prominence and destruction. In the past, he led UMass and Memphis to appearances in the Final Four, but he has never been able to capture that elusive championship.  He came the closest in 2008 when coincidently...

Is John Calipari the "One and Done" Devil?

Listen, I have as much disdain for John Calipari as the next person. Do I agree with the “One and Done rule?” Nope. But, is John Calipari really the NCAA’s version of the devil just because he recruits a ton of “One and Dones?” Allow me to rewind for a moment back to the year 2000. The University of Memphis was coming off a three year run of its worst basketball in the...
