The Arizona State athletic department Wednesday announced 72 student-athletes graduating this week. Among them is Trent Lockett, the mens basketball team's leading scorer last season who announced in March he would transfer from ASU to be closer to home and his ailing mother, who has been diagnosed with cancer, in Minnesota. Lockett's graduation makes official what has been noted before, that he will be eligible to play immediately after transferring, upon acceptance into a graduate program. Having graduated but still possessing a year of NCAA eligibility, Lockett will not have to sit out a season. It appears that Lockett has narrowed his decision to a pair of schools: Marquette and Iowa state. According to CycloneFanatic.com, Locket visited Iowa State last week and was impressed with what he saw. Iowa State recruited Lockett out of high school, but much has changed in the program since then. "Its more developed," Lockett told the site. "The practice facility is obviously a big thing for me. I like to be in the gym and that type of thing. Its four or five years down the road and you can definitely tell it has changed a lot." Lockett also visited Marquette recently, and a photo popped up in fan forums of him meeting with Marquette coach Buzz Williams. Shortly after it was announced Lockett had been released from his scholarship, the guard left open the possibility of a return to ASU. It's becoming increasingly unlikely. Lockett indicated to Cyclone Fanatic that he's probably done making official visits, but wouldn't guarantee it. "I think this is it," Lockett said. As for when Lockett might decide where he will play next season, he did not want to set a rigid timeline, but suggested it could be determined in the next couple weeks.
