Louisville improved to 11-1 on the season with a 78-55 victory over Western Kentucky. Russ Smith led the team in scoring with 20 points.  In the first half he was benched for not playing “team” basketball.  Pitino was heard on the bench saying “So you’re not (bad word) scoring? So what?” and “You are playing no (bad word) defense.”  But Russ came back in the second half and played like we are accustomed to.  11 of his 20 points were free throws and he finished with 5 rebounds.  Russ dunked in the end of the game and showed us a little dance afterwards….he was pulled out of the game shortly after that. Peyton Siva didn’t play his best game of the season but he did not need to be at his best.  He finished with 5 Pts, 5 Ast and 2 Rbs.  Siva ended up fouling out with about 5 minutes left in the game after a blown play by Kevin Ware.  On the bright side, Peyton Siva has hit more 3′s so far this year than he did all of last season. Wayne Blackshear is looking more and more comfortable as the season goes on and is emerging as a star on this team.  He finished with 17 Pts, 8 Reb, 1 Ast and 1 Stl.  This is the second game in a row that Blackshear has been the standout performer.  If he can keep this up, he will be the player that we recruited out of Chicago that dominated every game. Chane Behanan had 14 Pts and 7 Rbs on his way to another productive game.  The numbers dont always tell the story for him but he was a force on the block.  If Behanan puts his mind to it and wills himself to the basket, he might be the closest thing to unstoppable in college basketball. Louisville can now focus on the rivalry game against Kentucky on Saturday.  This should be an interesting week in the media, as it is always when the two state-rivals meet.  We can offically say that it is UK-UL week in Kentucky and that is something to be happy about. Other notable stat-lines Stephan Van Treese – 3 Pts, 3 Rbs, 2 Stl, 1 Blk Montrezl Harrell – 13 Pts, 6 Rbs, 4 Blk
