Shane Richards scored 16 points as Manhattan held off Saint Peter's 55-53 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Friday night to snap a four-game losing streak. Richards had 11 points in the second half to help the Jaspers (4-9, 2-1) overcome a six-point deficit. Manhattan, playing its seventh contest without injured All-MAAC guard George Beamon, pulled ahead 42-41 on Richards' 3-pointer with 9:27 remaining and built its own six-point cushion at 55-49. After the Peacocks (6-7, 1-2) closed to 55-53 with 2 minutes left, neither team could score. Yvon Raymond missed two free throws with 1:01 left, and Desi Washington had a jumper blocked by Rhamel Brown and missed a 3-pointer with 1 second left. Richards was 4 of 9 from long range while Manhattan made 9 of 27 3-pointers as a team. Brown added 11 points for his fourth straight double-digit performance. Washington led Saint Peter's with 15 points.
