The Michigan Wolverines improved to 6-2 with a 76-66 win over Iowa State on Saturday afternoon. The win is good medicine for Michigan after a dismal performance at Virginia on Tuesday. Tim Hardaway Jr. led U-M with 19 points, 6 boards and 3 assists.

Michigan built up an 18 point led with precise execution on both ends of the court. The Wolverines shot 48% for the game and 58% in the second half. Jordan Morgan scored 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting. Zack Novak only knocked down one shot from the field, but was 6-6 from the free throw line and hauled down 11 boards.

U-M had a balanced attack with all 5 starters scoring at least 8 points and 3 of them in double-digits. Blake McLimans had the best half of his career in the opening stanza. The big fella scored 5 points and put his shooting skills on display with a pure three-ball. Eso Akunne continues to provide quality minutes of the bench and is emerging into a microwave with his sharpshooting. He was 2-2 from the field against the Cyclones and he drained another triple. Akunne is a perfect 5-5 from the field this season, including 3-3 from beyond the arc.

The Wolverines now have a week off before they head to the Palace for a match up with Oakland. After that, Michigan will return home for 5 straight home games

December 13 vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff
December 17 vs Alabama A&M
December 22 vs Bradley
December 29 vs Penn State
January 1 vs Minnesota

When they wrap up that home stand, Michigan should be sitting at 11-2 as they head to Indiana to face a rapidly improving Hoosiers squad.
