Michigan hoops lands Tennessee transfer Olivier Nkamhoua

It's been a rough offseason for Juwan Howard and the Michigan basketball program — and that's not even considering the fact that the team went 18-16 last season and missed the NCAA Tournament.

Star center Hunter Dickinson (18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds per game) transferred to Kansas and then the Wolverines' big offseason transfer addition — ex-North Carolina guard Caleb Love — had to decommit because of eligibility issues.

It has been loss after loss for the Wolverines, but Howard and his program finally got a win via the transfer portal. Former Tennessee Volunteers guard Olivier Nkamhoua has committed to Michigan, per On3.

Nkamhoua's commitment to Michigan is a bit of a surprise. He took a visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend and then headed down to Texas to pay a visit to Baylor, another one of his finalists. It looked like Michigan was out of the running, so much so that a report came out saying as much.

Things apparently changed, though, and now Michigan will be getting a player who racked up four seasons of experience with the Volunteers.

Nkamhoua averaged 10.8 points, five rebounds and two assists last season for Tennessee.

West Virginia and Kansas State were also in the running for his commitment.
