It's no secret that fans of Michigan State and Michigan don't like each other. The latest example of their bitter rivalry comes on the eve of the NCAA Tournament, which both schools will be participating in. And as fate would have it, the selection committee has placed them in the same venue for their opening game, The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit. The Wolverines are set to meet the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Thursday night, while the Spartans will tangle with the Valparaiso Crusaders earlier in the day, beginning at 12:15 PM.The excitement of the Big Dance often spurs fans to buy up a ton of merchandise in support of their favorite school. Fans of the Jackrabbits are no different.According to KELO-TV, the SDSU campus bookstore has seen a spike in sales since the announcement of their seeding in the tournament. SDSU hats, shirts, and water bottles, among other items, are flying off the shelves. But the interesting thing is that not all of their business is coming from local patrons. In fact, a good portion of their sales are reportedly coming from Michigan State fans. They say the two most requested items in the bookstore are hats and t-shirts.  Since appearing on ESPN, the sales have quadrupled.  Because the SDSU men play Michigan, some of the requests for Jackrabbit gear have actually been coming from Michigan's instate arch rival. "We've actually have had some people, Michigan State fans calling in," Bookstore Marketing Coordinator Stephen Brua said. "Michigan and Michigan State are playing in the same arena, so what the people are doing, buying some stuff so they can go to that game and cheer against Michigan."  Meaning, the SDSU men's team will have a lot of fans, even if some of blue and yellow faithful can't be there in person.  Michigan State fans will have extra reason to cheer if the Crusaders somehow manage to pull of an upset before Michigan and SDSU take the court. I don't know if donning the gear of an arch rival's opponent is a great way to build good karma, but it definitely adds a little more fuel to the heated rivalry.Isn't March Madness great?
