Switzerland is famed for its neutrality in any and every war, but it still has a military. Unfortunately for Georgia basketball coach Mark Fox, the Swiss army was not quite neutral enough recently. Fox will be losing freshman walk-on Dusan Langura for at least a major portion of the 2013-14 season following a bomb explosion that left him with a torn ACL.

We guarantee that this is the first time you have read anything like this: A Georgia basketball player tore his ACL while fulfilling his military service duties in his native Switzerland.

“It really is a unique story,” Fox told The Telegraph. “He was injured in the explosion, and one of the injuries was a torn ACL. We had committed to have him come. He can really shoot the ball. He was gonna be on our team. He had to serve his military commitment, and this happened during it. “

When asked if Langura would still be making the move from the middle of Europe to the middle of Georgia, Fox responded in the affirmative.

“We’re still gonna honor our commitment to him, and once he gets healthy he’ll be out there with us,” Fox said. “But he probably won’t be cleared to practice until January or February.”

Navigating raucous SEC arenas should be a piece of cake for Langura after this one.
