NC State leading scorer Devon Daniels out for season with torn ACL

The NC State Wolfpack confirmed on Thursday that senior guard Devon Daniels suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in the second half of Wednesday's 72-67 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and is out for the remainder of the season.

Per ESPN stats, Daniels ends his campaign leading the Wolfpack with 16.5 points per game and tied for team leads with 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals, and 19 three-pointers. He's third on NC State with 5.0 rebounds per contest.

NC State head coach Kevin Keatts said in the released statement:

"I'm gutted and heartbroken for Devon. Devon joined our program shortly after I was named head coach and I quickly appreciated the tenacity and relentlessness he brought into the gym every day. Devon built himself into one of the premier players in the ACC and with that tireless work ethic, I have no doubt that he will attack his rehab and come back even stronger. I hope all NC State fans will join me in praying for Devon and a swift recovery."

Daniels scored 20 points in the win over Wake Forest that improved NC State to 7-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The Wolfpack next visits the Syracuse Orange on Sunday.
