Well, it took a few months for us to find out, but now we know that Texas Longhorns guard Myck Kabongo will be suspended by the NCAA for the rest of the 2012-13 college basketball season. According to Yahoo! Sports, the NCAA’s investigation of the potential NBA first-round pick centered around possible impermissible benefits from agent Rich Paul. Paul represents LeBron James and former Texas players Tristan Thompson and Cory Joseph. While the NCAA typically suspends players between three and 10 games while ordering them to repay benefits received, this case was different. The organization determined that Kabongo misled investigators by providing inaccurate information. The same type of season-long ban was applied to former Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant in 2009, when he lied to the NCAA. Kabongo was going to be a huge part of Texas’ team this year. He averaged 9.6 points, 5.2 assists and 1.3 steals as a freshman last season and without him the Longhorns have limped to a 6-...
