Send to KindlePer a release from the University of Louisville, junior forward Chane Behanan has been suspended indefinitely from the team. A preseason All-American Athletic Conference selection, Behanan averaged 9.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, shot 50.7 percent from the field and totaled 54 steals as a sophomore last season while starting 37 games.  He was named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament team, producing a double-double against Michigan in the national championship game with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Behanan has been in the Louisville doghouse before.  Last season, he missed the Cardinals preseason slate, as well as the season opener versus Manhattan.  Notably, coach Rick Pitino also banned Behanan from talking with the media during last year’s non-conference season. Pitino has said that Behanan’s immature actions have lead to this current discipline issue, which is the same reason for last year’s suspension.  Pitino has said that the suspension could be lifted in December. Behanan was a projected starter for the defending national champions but those plans are on hold.  Sophomore Montrezl Harrell will likely start in his place.  Harrell was in place to be at center, as Stephan Van Treese is the only player with center experience on the Louisville roster.  Pitino was successful last season with the four-guard lineup and if he can find and mold a player at the same talent level as the graduated Kyle Kuric, the Cardinals will be able to manage the loss of Behanan.
