Having their lone MAAC loss of the year earlier in the season at Iona, Niagara came out looking for vengeance as the Purple Eagles took down the Gaels 93-90 in overtime Thursday night at the Gallagher Center.
Juan’ya Green scored 26 points, none more important than a 3-pointer with 1 second remaining in overtime, giving Niagara the 3-point win.
Green also connected on a 3-pointer with 7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 81, completing a 15-point Purple Eagles comeback for Niagara over the final 6:53 of regulation.
Other Purple Eagle with huge games included Antoine Mason and Ameen Tanksley.
Mason finished with 30 points while Tanksley finished with a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
With the win, Niagara increases their lead in the MAAC to 2-games over Iona and 3-games over Loyola and Canisius who were also in action Thursday evening.
The Purple Eagles return to action Saturday when they host Loyola.
