Niagara Avenges Earlier Loss To Iona

Having their lone MAAC loss of the year earlier in the season at Iona, Niagara came out looking for vengeance as the Purple Eagles took down the Gaels 93-90 in overtime Thursday night at the Gallagher Center. Juan’ya Green scored 26 points, none more important than a 3-pointer with 1 second remaining in overtime, giving Niagara the 3-point win. Green also connected on a 3-pointer with 7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 81, completing a 15-point Purple Eagles comeback for Niagara over the final 6:53 of regulation. Other Purple Eagle with huge games included Antoine Mason and Ameen Tanksley. Mason finished with 30 points while Tanksley finished with a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. With the win, Niagara increases their lead in the MAAC to 2-games over Iona and 3-games over Loyola and Canisius who were also in action Thursday evening.
