Kenny Boynton snapped a shooting slump Saturday with three 3-pointers in the second half, when No. 14 Florida pulled away to beat Air Force 78-61 in the second game of the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic. Boynton had made only 4 of 32 from 3-point range over the previous five games, but he hit three in a span of 8 minutes to break the game open. The Gators used their superior size and smothering defense to grind down the Falcons, who shot 48 percent in the first half and 32 percent in the second half. Florida (9-2) won for only the second time in the past four games. Air Force (8-3) fell to 2-77 against ranked teams.

Gators' Kenny Boynton has final homecoming

SUNRISE, Fla. The hometown hero returned to shoot 1 of 4 in the first half, and hardly resembled either the recruit labeled "one and done" or the player tabbed as a future NBA star. Then the second half started. Kenny Boynton, a product of Pompano, Fla., scored 11 of his 14 points after halftime to help Florida pull away from Air Force and take a 78-61 victory Saturday...

Here's the game Dave Pilipovich and his first-year coaching staff have been waiting for. Facing Colorado was a challenge. Meeting Wichita State brought out a lot of fire in the Air Force men's basketball team. However, Saturday's showdown against the Florida Gators will tell the Falcons where they truly stand as the Mountain West Conference season approaches.
