North Carolina's Harrison Barnes is recovering from an ankle injury just as the fifth-ranked Tar Heels try to bounce back from their first loss with a pair of tough nonconference games. First up is No. 9 Wisconsin on Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Then comes a trip to Kentucky, which replaced the Tar Heels at No. 1 after the loss to UNLV on Saturday night. UNC coach Roy Williams says Barnes missed Monday's practice after spraining his right ankle against UNLV and didn't sound certain that Barnes would be ready for the Badgers. But team spokesman Steve Kirschner says Barnes planned to return to ''full'' practice Tuesday afternoon.

Harrison Barnes scored 10 of his 20 points during the decisive second-half surge to help No. 5 North Carolina rally past No. 9 Wisconsin 60-57 on Wednesday night. Tyler Zeller added 12 points for the Tar Heels (6-1), who had to show plenty of fight and toughness to outlast the Badgers in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Coming off its first loss of the season, North Carolina trailed by...

Power to the people: Harrison Barnes’ minutes tonight

As mentioned in a post a couple of weeks ago, I’d like to do some crowdsourcing from the people that have been generous enough to purchase a subscription to this site. Figuring that those folks are better informed than the average college hoops fan, we should take advantage of this knowledge. This evening I’d like to do an initial test of this concept by having the audience predict...

UNC Bounces Back With Win Over Wisconsin

by David Cassilo / @dcassilo In its first game since falling to UNLV on Saturday, No. 5 North Carolina held off No. 9 Wisconsin for a 60-57 win a home. Despite the victory, it was still a challenging night for the Tar Heels as Wisconsin controlled the pace from the tip. North Carolina was held to just 25 points at the half and took only 45 shots, 19 less than Wisconsin in the game...

No. 9 Badgers fall to No. 5 Tar Heels 60-57

Wisconsin had made things difficult on defenses by stretching them thin and then knocking down crushing 3-pointers. The ninth-ranked Badgers just couldn't do the same against North Carolina. Sure, Wisconsin spread out the fifth-ranked Tar Heels and made them defend until deep in the shot clock in the 60-57 loss Wednesday night. But the Badgers missed 20 of 28 shots from behind...

UNC 60 Wisconsin 57

UNC got an inconsistent offensive effort but enough when it counted to go with a solid outing on the defensive end to come away with a 60-57 win over Wisconsin. It wasn’t always pretty. In fact I don’t know how Badger fans watch this crap night in and night out. It is boring and horrid basketball to watch. However UNC played Wisconsin at its own game and won. Yes, it would be...

#1 Goes Down: UNLV Beats North Carolina

UNLV 90, #1 North Carolina 80New UNLV coach Dave Rice already has his first huge win as a head coach. This wasn't a fluke victory either - it's not like UNLV shot 60% on threes or something. There were just several small factors that added together for this win. They got poor performances from Tyler Zeller and John Henson (a combined 5-for-18 from the field) and had Harrison...
