Eighth-ranked Xavier defeated crosstown rival Cincinnati 76-53 in a game that was called with 9.4 seconds left when the teams got into a brawl. Mark Lyons scored 19 points, and Tu Holloway led a 12-point run in the first half for Xavier. The Musketeers (8-0) extended their best start in three years and their recent domination of the Bearcats (5-3). Video: Cincy-Xavier game ends with wild brawl

A large brawl ended the Cincinnati-Xavier game with a few seconds left on the clock. One player even threw a nasty punch.

Xavier-Cincinnati Game Ends In Ugly Brawl

A lot of trash-talking was going during the Xavier-Cincy game today. Xavier ended up winning, 76-53, but the trash-talking just kept going. It later led up to this ugly brawl: Expect a lot of suspensions here, especially for Yancy Gates, who decked Kenny Frease in the face. At the end of the game, Xavier backed themselves up saying they were gangsters and basically saying you shouldn...

Brawl exposes greedy coaches

Xavier head coach Chris Mack deserved the longest suspension. Instead, he'll parlay Tu Holloway and Mark Lyons into a major-college job and a fat pay raise. If you expected Mack or Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin to use Saturday's embarrassing, game-ending Xavier-Cincinnati basketbrawl as a teaching tool for their players, you don't understand modern-day, major-college...

I guess the Bearcats wanted to win the fight after losing the game.

Brawl ends No. 8 Xavier's rout of city rival Cincy

CINCINNATI (AP) Xavier center Kenny Frease used a white cloth to soak up the blood streaming from a gash below his eye. Coaches from both teams bear-hugged their players and tried to yank them away from the bedlam.

Brawl mars Xavier dominance of UC, 76-53

A crosstown rivalry known for high emotions and tense moments added what is perhaps the saddest chapter to its history, as a bench clearing brawl with 9.4 seconds left put a damper on an otherwise dominating performance by the 8th ranked Xavier Musketeers over the Cincinnati Bearcats, 76-53, Saturday at Cintas Center. The brawl overshadowed a total team effort by the Muskies in...

Xavier Beats Cincinnati in Shootout

There will be a post on the post game fight shortly, but let's just cover the game. Xavier proved too athletic and too tough defensively for the Cincinnati Bearcats today, winning 76-53. The first half was very intense. The teams came out tight. There were several ties and lead changes. Things turned late in the half though. Xavier went on a 10-0 run, and a 12-2 run to close...

Xavier-UC Rivalry hits rock bottom

CINCINNATI It was supposed to a celebratory moment, and its possible that when the new polls come out Monday Xaviers basketball team will be ranked as high as its ever been. Breaking Down the Fight

With 9 seconds left, a huge fight errupted in the Crosstown Shootout. Obviously many factors are to blame here. The officials didn't do anything to stop a halftime pull apart, and tensions simmered the rest of the game. Xavier was up 23 points, why were their starters in? I don't know, but they were. I'm going to try my best to break down the fight between the teams....
