James Hulbin scored 19 points and Northwestern State closed out the game with 11 unanswered points to rally past Stephen F. Austin 61-57 Saturday in a contest pitting the nation's top offense against its top defense. The Demons (12-6, 6-2 Southland Conference) came in averaging 85 points per game while the Lumberjacks were allowing only 49.4 points. The loss snapped Stephen F. Austin's 11-game winning streak, the second-longest in the country. The game featured eight ties and 15 lead changes. The Lumberjacks (16-2, 7-1), who were 16-0 this season when leading with five minutes left, had a 57-50 advantage with 4:04 remaining, but would not score again as Northwestern State made 4 of 8 field goals. Northwestern State, which posted its lowest winning score this season, forced 22 turnovers. Desmond Haymon had 11 points and 13 rebounds and Taylor Smith had 10 points and 12 boards for Stephen F. Austin.
