Lamar Patterson and Tray Woodall combined to score 14 points in overtime, leading Pittsburgh past Butler 68-62 in the College Basketball Invitational tournament semifinals Wednesday night.
The Panthers (20-16) will face either Oregon State or Washington State in next week's best-of-three championship round. The two Pac-12 rivals played later Wednesday.

Pitt beat Princeton in the second round of the CBI last night 82-61 sending them to a Final Four matchup at Butler on Wednesday night. I’m glad Pitt waited until te CBI to start scoring 80+ points a game, because last night was the second game in a row the Panthers did it.

Pitt beat Butler last night in a 68-62 overtime thriller to send the Panthers to the CBI finals. WOOOOO! Pitt now advances to play Washington State in a best-of-three finals. Yea, who knew it was a best-of-three? I sure didn’t, but it sounds pretty awesome. Another silver lining in the game; Pitt has now won at least 20 games in 12 straight seasons…so they have that going...
