The matchup doesn’t look good for Florida on paper. No. 22 Wisconsin has built its reputation on physicality and dominating in the paint. The Gators only have two fully healthy big men on Wednesday, with Erik Murphy dealing with an illness. It’s hard to draw up what to expect with a lack of bodies in practice, but No. 10 Florida knows it has to be ready to play physical on Wednesday.

It was a migraine headache that kept Erik Murphy out of practice on Monday and put his status for Wednesday in doubt. The rest of the No. 10 Florida team might need to suffer from the same. The senior forward played his best game at Florida, tying a career high with 24 points on 10-of-10 shooting from the field while adding eight rebounds as the Gators cruised to a 74-56 win over No. 22 Wisconsin.
With No. 10 Florida already down three players from the team that opened preseason practice, they’re dealing with another blow that could be even bigger. Senior forward Erik Murphy missed practice on Monday with an illness and his status is in doubt with No. 22 Wisconsin coming to Gainesville on Wednesday night. It’s another obstacle the Gators are forced to face this early in the year.
The Florida Gators finished off #22 Wisconsin 74-56 Wednesday night in grand fashion. Forward Erik Murphy was the star of the show for UF, but the team as a whole played very well. GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Erik Murphy is no longer just an outside threat.
Murphy tied a career-high with 24 points days after dealing with a migraine headache, and No. 10 Florida beat 22nd-ranked Wisconsin 74-56 on Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-10 power forward made all 10 of his shots, including several in the post and just two from 3-point range, as the short-handed Gators enjoyed...
Billy Donovan’s honesty is always refreshing. When the Florida coach talks about senior guard Mike Rosario, there’s nothing but honesty. Regardless of the headaches and frustration that Rosario has caused Donovan since transferring to Florida, the Florida coach claimed on Wednesday night that he loves causing the redshirt senior. It just doesn’t always sound that way.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- No. 7 Florida will be without quarterback Jeff Driskel against lower-division Jacksonville State on Saturday.
Coach Will Muschamp ruled Driskel out Wednesday because of a sprained right ankle, saying Jacoby Brissett will start against the Gamecocks (6-4). It will be Brissett's third start in two seasons.
More importantly, Muschamp says he's unsure whether...
Maybe Bo Ryan should have delayed the Florida home-and-home a little longer. Senior center Erik Murphy was a perfect 10-for-10 to tie his career high with 24 points, leading No.10 Florida past No.22 Wisconsin, 74-56, at the O'Connell Center Wednesday night.

Florida ended any serious speculation about Jeff Driskel's availability for Saturday's game against Jacksonville State by officially announcing that the injured quarterback will be out Saturday due to a sprained ankle.

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel is considered doubtful for Saturday’s game against Jacksonville State. He will test the ankle on Wednesday to get a better idea, but after spending the first two days of the week on crutches and in a boot, the Gators are expecting Jacoby Brissett to start the game. The offense will change to feature Brissett’s strengths and eliminate most of the...
Earl Okine is one straight shot from where it all began. Less than five years ago, Florida’s senior defensive lineman was treading between nearby goal posts making an impact for the Gainesville High Hurricanes. On Saturday, Okine will make his last plays as a Gator in The Swamp. Though Okine's career at UF was filled with ups and downs, he said it’s an experience he wouldn’t...
The Florida defense has taken the next step this season because of NFL talent in the junior and senior classes. The seniors like Jon Bostic, Josh Evans, Omar Hunter and Lerentee McCray will try to make it at the next level, but there could be some juniors from the Florida defense that join them. The Florida coaches won’t address it until after the season, but there is plenty of junior talent.
Quietly, Florida coach Billy Donovan has had the Florida Gators on the brink of the Final Four once again in the last two years as they have suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses in the Elite Eight. What makes these experiences so worthwhile is that Florida is a definition of team chemistry with several players who can hoop it up at several positions on the floor as Wisconsin...
