PLAYERS: Kevin Ware
TEAMS:
For the past few weeks, we’ve heard nothing but good news in regards to Kevin Ware’s recovery. That trend continued on Friday afternoon when Rick Pitino spoke to the media to talk about his book and preview Saturday’s Red & White scrimmage. “Kevin’s last x-ray shows that he’s perfectly healed,” Pitino says. “He’s got a clean bill of health and has been cleared to start his workouts.” Ware worked out for the first time on Thursday. He’ll go through individual workouts before he starts practicing at 100% with the team. “I would say he’ll be ready to play all out basketball by the end of October,” Pitino told the media. It’s hard to believe that in just six months after suffering one of the more gruesome injuries in the world of sports, Ware is already 100% healed. “He’s then got to get over the psychological effect of the injury,” Pitino says. “He asked me if he should watch it, but I told him it’s not going to help him in any way.”

Kevin Ware Returns to Practice After Gruesome Broken Leg

The last time we saw Louisville guard Kevin Ware on the court, he severely fractured his leg in an Elite Eight game against Duke. It was one of the most gruesome injuries you will ever see. Today some good news came out about Ware’s progress according to the Louisville Courier-Journal: “He has a clean bill of health,” coach Rick Pitino said Friday. “He can play all-out...

Louisville shoots impressively in first scrimmage

Louisville doesn't buy into midnight madness. Confusion created by its defense is another matter, and Saturday's first Red-White scrimmage featured flashes of the trademark pressure that helped win last season's NCAA championship. However, that aspect took a back seat to impressive offense before 8,280 at the KFC Yum! Center as both squads shot at least 46 percent....

This Is Undoubtedly The Shortest Interview Rick Pitino Has Ever Had In His Life

Boston’s top sports talk morning radio show, Toucher & Rich, brought on former Celtics and current Louisville Cardinals head coach Rick Pitino for a phone-in interview this morning, but it didn’t last very long. Here’s the audio & full transcript: http://thenosebleeds.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/rick-pitino-on-toucher-and-rich.mp3 [Start of Interview] Fred Toucher...

Boston sports radio host Fred Toettcher hangs up on Rick Pitino over Celtics

After having worked in the sports radio game, I’m not really surprised these days about things that happen in the realm of sports radio. Earlier today, former NBA head coach Rick Pitino was supposed to do an interview on Boston-area sports radio show, “The Toucher and Rich Show” about his brand new book. However, instead of doing an interview, he hung up on Rick: Fred Toettcher...

Louisville Basketball: Pitino Talks About His Team & Previews Red & White Game

Rick Pitino met with the media on Friday afternoon to discuss his new book and also talk about his team. He spent some time talking about tomorrow’s Red & White scrimmage as well. Here are some notable quotes. On the first few practices “We’ve had maybe three practices, today will be the fourth. We’re waiting a little bit. It’ll be ragged. I’m hoping without many...

Highlights: Louisville’s 2014 Recruiting Class

Rick Pitino has received five commitments from the 2014 class. Unfortunately, only three of those players have maintained their commitment to the Louisville program. Shaqquan Aaron, a 6-foot-8, 175-pound, combo guard from Seattle, WA., verbally committed to Louisville in February of last year. Jaylen Johnson, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound, power forward from Michigan gave Pitino a verbal...

Audio: Boston Radio Station Invites Rick Pitino On For Interview, Insults Him, Then Hangs Up

As everybody knows, the folks up in Boston take their sports seriously — very, very seriously. And even worse, or better, depending on if you live in Boston or not, they hold grudges. Today, one of those grudges was made brutally apparent. Local radio hosts Toucher & Rich asked current Louisville and former Celtics head coach Rick Pitino to appear on their show for an interview...

Is Montrezl Harrell The Biggest Breakout Player In College Basketball?

No player on the Louisville roster has gotten more preseason hype than sophomore forward Montrezl Harrell. The Tarboro, N.C., native played just 16-minutes per game, averaging five points and three rebounds. Despite his limited role, it wasn’t hard to see just how much potential Harrell has. With Gorgui Dieng gone, Harrell will have a much larger role. His performance in the Big...

Louisville Basketball: What To Expect In The First Red & White Scrimmage

Let me start off by saying on record that I think Louisville is going to win.  It may be a close one, but I see the Cards pulling it out in the end.  That obvious joke aside I think we can expect a lot out of Saturday’s highly anticipated Red-White scrimmage game. While it’s out there that Russ Smith and Chris Jones may be on the same team, I cannot confirm nor deny that knowing...

Former Louisville Recruit Decommits From UCLA. Will Louisville Get Involved?

247 Former Louisville recruit Trevon Bluiett decommitted from UCLA on Thursday evening. Bluiett had been one of the first few recruits in the 2014 class that Louisville showed serious interest in, but somewhere throughout the recruiting process, there was a mutual parting. The Indianapolis native was a forgotten name once Louisville received commitments from Shaqquan Aaron and JaQuan...

Chinanu Onuaku Has Committed To Louisville

@StevieU22 It’s been one helluva week for Louisville head basketball coach Rick Pitino. The recently inducted hall-of-famer has been traveling to promote his new book, appearing on multiple radio and television shows. The week got even better for Pitino on Friday afternoon. Rick Pitino Discusses His Team With Andy Katz

Any interview you heard from Rick Pitino within the past 48-hours has mostly been about his new book. There has been some brief conversation about the 2013-14 college basketball season, but not much. Fortunately for Andy Katz of ESPN, he caught up with Coach Pitino on Saturday afternoon for a solid interview about this year’s Louisville team. Click here to view from your mobile device.
