Pitt continues to be an active player in the transfer portal as the Panthers have yet again contacted a high-profile target.

On Monday, it was announced that former Maryland four-star Jaime Kaiser Jr. was hitting the portal and he quickly racked up a long line of suitors, which included the Panthers. Pittsburgh Sports Now confirms that Pitt has since reached out to the portal prospect after first reported by PortalUpdates.

In his freshman campaign, Kaiser Jr. scored 4.4 points and grabbed two rebounds a game. In 19.1 minutes of work per night, he shot 26.9 percent from the floor and 26.5 percent behind the arc. He put up a career-high 14 points on 4 of 5 from 3-point range against Nebraska in late January.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound small forward  was regarded as a top-five prospect out of the state on Virginia in the 2023 cycle and would then spend his senior year at IMG Academy in Florida after three seasons at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

With Pitt needing to retool at the wing with Blake Hinson departing, Kaiser Jr. could fit that mold as a younger option to grow through the program.

Something important to note, Kaiser Jr.’s family is originally from Erie, Pa. and his father, Jamie Kaiser Sr., played football at Slippery Rock University.

Kaiser Jr. was also heavily recruited as a quarterback by Pitt out of high school, with the Panthers serving as his first Power Five offer.

Pitt is joined by West Virginia, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Butler, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, along with several others that have reached out to the portal target.

Kaiser Jr. joins a growing list of players that the Panthers have reached out to, which includes St. Louis’ Gibson Jimerson and Kentucky’s Adou Thiero.

The Panthers have also made strides by closing in on Louisville transfer Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, who put Pitt in his top schools. East Carolina transfer Brandon Johnson was another key target, but recently announced that he is taking his talents to Miami.
