2011-12 Season Review: Blackshear played in just 15 games last year, due to a shoulder injury that occurred a week before the season started. After recovering from shoulder surgery, he missed a few games because Pitino said he wasn’t in game playing shape yet. In the brief amount of action Blackshear saw last season, he had a lot of ups and downs. At times he looked like a freshman who was still trying to find his role and at other times he looked like the McDonalds All American that he was in high school. Blackshear scored a total of 37 points on the season and posted a career high on the road at West Virginia scoring 13 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.
