Photo courtesy of CardShout.com With the 2012-13 college basketball season quickly approaching, The Cardinal Connect will provide a brief preseason player profile for all 15 members of the team. We’ll take a look at each player’s production from last season and provide what their reasonable expectations should be in 2012-13. #25 Zach Price, 6-foot-10, Center, Soph: 2011-12 Season Review: As a true freshman last year Price played in 19 games averaging 4.3 minutes per contest. His best performance was against Fairleigh Dickinson where he played 15 minutes, scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, but somehow managed to foul out. With Price being a top 60 player coming out of high school, a lot of fans expected him to contribute early on, but that wasn’t the case. As most freshman post players do, Price had a tough time adjusting to the next level. Although the potential looked evident, his production was very minimal last season. 2012-12 Expectations: Price is one of a handful of guys ...

Louisville sophomore forward Chane Behanan must sit out the Cardinals' exhibition opener against Pikeville on Nov. 1 and is banned from talking with the media this semester. Coach Rick Pitino said Sunday that Behanan was involved in some unspecified ''incidents'' this summer and was warned that another would lead to him missing games. The 6-foot-6 Behanan, who...

The media was informed when arriving this afternoon to Louisville’s annual media day gathering that Chane Behanan would not be available to speak to the media until the second semester. Louisville stressing offensive balance

Louisville's team concept is such that the term ''go-to guy'' applies to just about anybody on the roster. At least, that's the philosophy of Cardinals guards Peyton Siva and Russ Smith and center Gorgui Dieng, who are expected to lead a return to the Final Four along with forward Chane Behanan. It's reflected in last season's scoring, where Smith...

Hancock with 29 in Louisville scrimmage

A few thoughts on University of Louisville basketball after Sunday’s intrasquad scrimmage at the KFC Yum! Center …Luke Hancock will be a rock, a steadying influence, bringing a wider variety of shots and higher accuracy than Kyle Kuric. Businesslike approach to the game, scoring a very quiet 29 points while hitting four of four from behind the three-point line.Peyton Siva went...

Recap: Second Red – White Game

It was a sloppy start, but Louisville’s second of three intra-squad scrimmages ended up being a pretty competitive match-up.  The red team ended prevailing 85-74 behind Luke Hancock and Kevin Ware’s big performances. Hancock led all scorers with 29 points on 7-of-13 shooting. He also added six assists and two steals. Hancock really impressed me this afternoon. He’s very crafty...

Bridge over troubled Waters, Teddy delivers for Louisville

If a receiver is open, Teddy Bridgewater is going to find him. If not, he’s going to pull it in and run for daylight. Puts his team on his back. Whatever it takes.South Florida was shutting down the University of Louisville offense, allowing the Cardinals only 384 total yards for the game. Heralded running backs Senorise Perry and Jeremy Wright could manage only 60 yards between...

Sophomore defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin’s performance on Saturday didn’t go unnoticed. Earlier this morning, Mauldin was named the Big East defensive player of the week. He finished with a career high six tackles and two sacks on Saturday against South Florida. Mauldin has played numerous positions since arriving at Louisville, but he seems to have found his permanent home at...

Louisville Having A Tough Time Getting Off The Field On Third Down

I never thought I’d see this from a Charlie Strong coached Louisville team, but this year’s offense is clearly carrying the team thus far.  Louisville’s offense is converting on third down 56.04% of the time which ranks second in the country, behind only Army who is converting 56.99% of the time. While Louisville’s offense is thriving, the Cards defense isn’t playing...

Louisville 27 – USF 25: Post Game Notes

To be undefeated seven games into the season is not an easy feat.  Regardless of how pretty you look when you do it, how your opponents are viewed, or what conference you are in…undefeated is undefeated.  Louisville is likely to get their opponents best shot for the remainder of the season until they are knocked off, and I think that’s exactly what you got Saturday night against...

Louisville football recruiting notebook

University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong has the Cardinals at 7-0 and one of only 11 undefeated FBS teams in the country. The Cardinals have nine commitments in the Class of 2013 but are busy on the recruiting trail. Here are a few recruiting nuggets with players that have interest in the Cardinals.
