Edgar Sosa, former Louisville 6-2 guard, is from Santa Domingo, Domincan Republic. He established himself in New York where he played at Rice High School (same HS as Felipe Lopez, Kemba Walker, etc.), becoming on an All-American on his way to Rick Pitino’s squad. via voice-tribune.com Sosa made an impact immediately as a freshman playing alongside Terrence Williams, David Padgett, Derrick Caracter, Jerry Smith, Earl Clark, etc. averaging the second most on the team with 11.4 ppg. Louisville went into the tourney as a #6 seed, they took care of Stanford in the first round, and then squared off against #3 seed Texas A&M led by Acie Law. Sosa completely carried the team with 31 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Aggies sent them home. Regardless, the future looked bright after a successful freshman campaign. To many’s surprise in his sophomore and junior seasons Sosa shot below 40% from the field and only averaged 7.5 ppg. However despite mediocre play, the Cardinals went on to two straight Elite 8 appearances. As a senior Sosa bounced back to freshman form averaging career highs with 13.1 ppg and 4.5 apg. The Sosa-Samuels (Samardo of course) duo became a dangerous combo, but the team lacked depth. As a #9 seed Louisville was booted in the first round of the Big Dance by Jerome Randle and the Golden Bears of California. Sosa went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft and went on to play overseas in Italy, Domincan Republic, and Spain. via AP Sosa represents his country on the Dominican Republic National Team alongside Francisco Garcia and Al Horford. *Insert inevitable Edgar Sosa “Love Sosa” joke here* -Schotz
