The Terrapin Nation:
Thoughts on Maryland’s 78-71 win over Colorado on day two in Puerto Rico:
Following a subpar performance versus Alabama in which Stoglin missed all 9 of his field goal attempts, the super sophomore responded versus Colorado putting his teammates on his back and willing them to a big win. After shooting just 3 for 17 through 3 halves of play in Puerto Rico, Stoglin exploded for 25 points in the second half versus Colorado. Stoglin finished the game 12 of 21 from the field, making 4 three-pointers and hitting on all 4 of his attempts from the foul line. His 32 point performance was a career high, eclipsing his previous high of 28 last season versus North Carolina. He scored in every which way imaginable: three-pointers, floaters, pull-ups and free throws. Simply an amazing second half performance.
FREE THROW WOES
The Terps free throw woes continued in San Juan. Maryland was able to convert only 13 of 24 free throw attempts versus the Buffs. Freshman Nick Faust missed 4 of his 8 attempts while sophomore Mychal Parker missed all 4 of his attempts. Luckily for the Terps Colorado shot an abysmal 12 of 23 from the line themselves. Maryland will have to improve in this area as the season goes forward or it will eventually cost them a game down the line.
Turgeon did an excellent job rotating players in and out of the lineup and managing their minutes throughout the game. All 5 starters played at least 30 minutes with Turgeon using only an 8-man rotation.

The Terps played No. 15 Alabama down in Puerto Rico tonight and it did not go well. Like, really not well. As in, they only scored 42 points not well.
That’s fewer points than a Gary Williams-led Maryland team ever scored. And it’s Mark Turgeon’s second game. Impressive.
Also impressive was top freshman (for the Terps at least) Nick Faust’s new mohawk (@sunjeffbarker has...
