Marshall head coach Tom Herrion has dismissed former Louisville commit Justin Coleman from the team. A press release issued by Marshall’s athletic department cited “Conduct detrimental to the program and not upholding its standards and expectations.”
Coleman was initially the prized recruit for Louisville’s 2010 class. Because he was a partial qualifier he was not eligible to play in the Big East, which led to him enrolling at Marshall in his hometown of Huntington, WV. Coleman had to sit out during the 2010-2011 season because of academic issues. This was his first season with the Thundering Herd. Coleman was considered to be one of the better athletes in Conference USA. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 17 games.
Earlier in the season he was suspended for sending text messages on his cell phone during halftime of a game. Sounds like Louisville may have dodged a bullet with this one.
