Since Louisville joined the Big East in 2005, Rick Pitino and his Louisville Cardinals have pretty much owned Jim Boeheim. The Cards have won seven of eight against Syracuse and have honestly had a lot more overall success than the Orange in recent years. Since joining the Big East in 2005-2006, Louisville has won 71 league games to Syracuse’s 64. The Cards have not missed the NCAA tournament since the 2006 season. Syracuse has failed to make the Big Dance twice over the last five years. As much as fans get on Rick Pitino for his recent struggles in the NCAA tournament, he’s actually done a better job than Jim Boeheim, who is a Naismith Hall-of-Famer. Since winning a national championship in 2003, Syracuse has not made it past the Sweet-16. That’s nearly ten years without an Elite-8 or a Final Four appearance.
