I have a big problem with KU fans now. Never had till the last few months, but now it’s a problem. When I say KU Fans I don’t mean all, I mean just the a-typical KU Fan. The ones that act as if the universe of basketball is built around their program. The ones that acts like they have won more games and national championships than any other program in the country. The ones that act like they created basketball and for the record basketball was not created at KU. Basketball was created by James Naismith, but he did it while he was in Springfield, Massachusetts.   If you’re thinking.. “Why Doug, why the hate?” We will get there.   For the record I respect KU and its program. Historically it is one of the best in the country. It is full of history and tradition and that is something I dig. On some occasions I will root for KU.   For the record I am huge Kentucky Wildcats fan. Have been since I remember. The better part of family is from Kentucky. Calhoun, Kentucky to be exact. Two hours west of Lexington. I was raised on Kentucky Basketball. It is religion in Kentucky. My aunt taught me two things growing up God and Kentucky Basketball. I remember being 15 in 1992 and crying when Duke hit that lucky shot knocking Rick Pitino out of the tourney.   For the record, I think we can all agree that John Calipari is up to his old shenanigans at Kentucky, much like he pulled at UMass and Memphis. Being a die hard Kentucky fan I can say that. I’m not ashamed to say that. I think we all know he is buying his players and one day it will come to light and Kentucky Nation will have to hang its head in shame and watch our wins and last years championship vacated. Being a Kentucky fan I shouldn’t say that, but I call a fair ball game and it’s true. Big Blue Nation will probably have my head on a stick for that, but like I said it’s true. Kentucky laid a fat egg this year, and I don’t even want to hear the excuse Nerlins Noel got hurt. They were a flop out of the gate this year, Coach Cal bought the wrong mixture this year.   So here is my problem, last year and this year, even being a Wildcats fan, I have sung the praises of KU. I said last year and I said this year, I think Bill Self is probably the greatest coach in the country. What he has done with that program is incredible. He could be the best KU coach of all time. He has built teams that cut their way through the tournament year after year. Won a championship in 2008, and made it to the title game and hung with the Wildcats and they weren’t even expected to win the Big 12 in 2012. It’s incredible.   I have been at bars and on social media in the last few months and had discussions about college basketball, singing KU’s praises only to be met with douchebag attitudes from KU’s fans talking ****. Even this week when Julius Randle committed to Kentucky over KU, I was shocked and I think we all know what happened. I went to message boards and social media both happy and apologizing, once again to be met with insults.   The point is this. For the most part KU Fans catch heat and get insulted when their teams lose because of your horrible attitudes. If someone like me, a fan of a rival program can shake your hand and compliment you, don’t follow it with nasty banter. Learn to take a compliment and shake a hand. Learn to win and lose with some dignity. Watch I will do it with my following statement.   “Kentucky was an embarrassment this year. Coach Cal doesn’t know how to coach, obviously if he couldn’t win anymore games than he did with the best recruiting class last year that was the best in the country. Its an eyesore on Big Blue Nation to lose to Robert Morris in the opening round of the NIT. Congrats to KU on another remarkable season which has been consistent every year.”   Now I pretty much made that statement the other night to a drunken girl at the bar, to be met with a “Kentucky sucks, KU is the best team ever.”   Well sweetheart to you and the rest of the KU fans of your caliber please let me say the following. Please lose your elite, yuppie, coffee drinking, Douglas County, Johnson County, hipster attitude and learn some class. Furthermore to put you back in check let me say, no KU is not the best ever. They aren’t even close. Numbers don’t lie. So check this out.   Most Wins Ever By Division 1 School: Kentucky- 2090, KU second with- 2080 Most National Championships Ever By Division 1 School: UCLA-11, KU (tied for 6th with 3) Most Final Four Appearances Ever By Division 1 School: North Carolina-18, KU (4th place with 14) Most Tournament Appearances By Division 1 School: Kentucky-52, KU-(4th place) 42   KU should be proud. Very impressive, but quit acting like the Jayhawks (fictional bird by the way) are God’s gift to basketball. Learn some grace and tact, especially in the event that you have a fan from another program that is superior to yours paying you a compliment. Drop the attitude and you may see a more loving embrace from your rival fans.   BTW, let me put some Monistat on your sensitive vaginas….Congrats to KU on their great season and a 1 seed in the tourney. I wish you all the best and have you in the Final Four. The bad news is I have you losing to Louisville in the Final Game. Don’t worry you will back again next and probably stronger than this year.
