Roy Williams first heard about the controversy surrounding star forward Ed Davis early Thursday morning when North Carolina sports information director Steve Kirshner paid a visit to his office to let him know what was going on. “It’s not real good when Steve somes in and says ‘I have to talk to you about this,’ ” Williams recalled a day later.
