Russ Smith made a pretty phenomenal improvement from freshman to sophomore season. Seven games into the 2012-13 season, it’s hard to argue that Russ hasn’t made an ever bigger improvement from sophomore to junior year. In seven games this year, Russ is averaging 19.9 points and 3 steals per game. His overall improvement hasn’t gone unnoticed as he is now being mentioned as a potential first round pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Jonathan Giovany runs DraftExpress.com, which is one of the few accurate and respectable NBA Draft websites. Giovany published his updated 2013 mock draft last night and has Russ Smith projected as 28th pick in the first round.
