Former N.C. State/Kentucky point guard Ryan Harrow has been granted a waiver by the NCAA. Harrow decided to transfer to his 3rd school in 4 years after one lone season in Lexington. Harrow’s transfer is a result of his father suffering a stroke last season, and wanting to be closer to him. Under normal circumstances, any player that transfers to another program must sit out the following season. When Harrow left N.C. State for Kentucky, he served the 1-year penalty before taking the floor last season for the ‘Cats. After leaving Kentucky, Harrow applied for a waiver from the NCAA to allow him to play at Georgia State immediately due to his father’s illness. Today, Harrow was granted his waiver, and will be eligible for the Panthers immediately. Here is a statement from his new coach at Georgia State, Ron Hunter: “I am really excited for Ryan and his family,” coach Ron Hunter said in a statement. “There is no doubt this will be a huge boost for our team as Ryan is an extremely talented player. He has been working hard not knowing if he would be eligible or not and, I have no doubt, will work even harder now knowing that he will get to play this season.” Georgia State is receiving a player who was ranked in the Top-20 for his class and a 5-star prospect coming out of high school. The Panthers have just moved back to the Sun Belt conference after spending 8 years in the Colonial Athletic conference. Georgia State finished last season with a 15-16 record.
