Seton Hall 76, St. Peter's 61

Associated Press  |  Last updated November 25, 2012
Fuquan Edwin, limited by foul trouble in the first half, scored 18 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to power Seton Hall past Saint Peter's 76-61 Sunday. Eugene Teague, a 6-foot-9 junior center, complemented Edwin's effort with 20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for Seton Hall (5-1), which also received 13 points from Aaron Cosby. Edwin, who sat for 12 minutes of the first half with two fouls, contributed 11 points during a 24-7 surge that pushed the Pirates' lead to 59-45 with 10:12 showing. Saint Peter's (3-2), which dropped its second straight, received 14 points apiece from Darius Conley and Blaise Ffrench. Conley left the game with a left leg injury with 5:16 to play. Seton Hall shot 87.5 percent (14 of 16) from the free-throw line, led by Teague, who was 6-for-6. Edwin (3 of 3), Cosby (2 of 2) and Kyle Smyth (2 of 2) were also perfect from the line for Seton Hall. In comparison, St. Peter's made just 8 of 13 free throws. Conley hit a jumper and Yvon Raymond followed up his own miss before Ffrench drove the baseline to cap a six-point spurt that handed Saint Peter's a 38-35 lead early in the second half. Seton Hall, sparked by Edwin's 3-pointer, reeled off the next 11 points to grab a 46-38 advantage and expanded that run to 24-7. Edwin, who opened the second half with a running jumper, followed by a bonus foul shot, committed his third foul with 17:11 left but also picked up his offensive game at that point. Edwin drained 7 of 10 shots in the second half, including two 3-pointers. Teague scored 14 points in the first half for the Pirates.
