Found June 18, 2014 on Rock Chalk Blog:
Yesterday, we posted that Sporting News named Wayne Selden the No. 5 shooting guard in the nation. Today, Sporting News picked Perry Ellis as the No. 3 power forward in the 2014-15 season. Here’s what they said about Perry: Size: 6-8, 225 pounds Class: Junior Stats: 13.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg Andrew Wiggins consumed more oxygen among the Jayhawks than a lot of us realized until the whole season went down in flames against Stanford. Always a dependable player, Ellis did what he was asked and what he could get done while Wiggins starred — or failed to star — but he didn’t get an exceptional number of shots for a guy hitting nearly 54 percent from the floor. Wanna bet that changes this year? KU should have very capable wings, and Cliff Alexander is going to be a bear close to the basket, but Ellis’ multiple tools as a scorer should become the Jayhawks’ most important offensive asset. Here’s their top 10 list: Montrezl Harrell, Louisville Karl Towns, Kentucky Perry Ellis, Kansas Chris Walker, Florida Brice Johnson, UNC Brandon Ashley, Arizona Jordan Mickey, LSU Nigel Hayes, Wisconsin Jonathan Holmes, Texas Le’Bryan Nash, Oklahoma State Like the shooting guards, three of the top 10 power forwards are in the Big 12. What do you think of Perry’s position? While I’ve heard great things about Karl Towns, I’m not sure he deserves a spot over Ellis until Towns plays a minute in college. Still, to be picked in the top three is a huge honor for Ellis. He’s most likely a Big 12 pre-season player of the year candidate. Comment below on how you think Perry Ellis will do this season and if you think he’s ranked too low on this list.

Sporting News thinks highly of 2014-15 Jayhawks

It doesn’t come as any surprise that the national media thinks highly of the Kansas Jayhawks.  Still, losing two first round picks and ending up with four top 10 players at their position. Wayne Selden — No. 5 Shooting Guard Perry Ellis — No. 3 Power Forward Kelly Oubre — No. 9 Small Forward Cliff Alexander — No. 3 Center The only position where Kansas didn’t come...

Will Joel Embiid's latest injury be enough to trump his endless potential on draft night?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Joel Embiid didn't even want to be here. Not really. That's the part about Thursday's little knife-twist that breaks your heart. You can't shake the feeling that this whole "NBA Draft" thing was everybody's idea but his. You can't shake the feeling that if Big No. 21 had his druthers, he'd still be in Lawrence, dunking on...

Joel Embiid’s New Prosthetic Legs Drop His Draft Stock to Mid-1st Round

Former Kansas Jayhawks big man Joel Embiid was widely considered to be the frontrunner to go No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Draft. But the 7-footer has seen his stock slip after having his brittle legs replaced with prosthetics at the hips.  “We still see him as an option at No. 1 overall,” said a Cavaliers front office source. “But we may end up leaning...

Sporting News names Cliff Alexander as No. 3 center

Sporting News tabbed Cliff Alexander as the No. 3 center in the upcoming 2014-15 season. Here’s what they had to say: 6-9, 240 pounds Freshman If you look up “power forward” in the dictionary, the picture you’ll see might look like Alexander. He has the ideal body and temperament for the position. So it may surprise you to see Alexander listed here, but with Joel Embiid gone...

The 76ers really want Andrew Wiggins

credit: The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves in a bit of a quandary as they sit with the #3 pick in next week’s draft. The player they want most is a guy who may or may not be available when the third pick comes around and from what reports are saying, they do not want to take any chances. The player they covet is Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins, whose athleticism...

Cavs Report: Wiggins impresses; coaching decision may be near

Some news and notes about the Cavaliers as we move closer to the NBA Draft, free agency, and perhaps a coaching hire: -- Andrew Wiggins worked out for the Cavs on Wednesday, and sources said the Kansas swingman looked very good. That's not necessarily a surprise. Like KU center Joel Embiid and Duke forward Jabari Parker, there's a reason Wiggins is under consideration for...

Wiggins' visit to Sixers is cloaked in secrecy

One thing is certain: The 76ers are entertaining the player they're targeting in the NBA draft for a couple of days. But no one outside of the parties involved really knows how Andrew Wiggins' visit to Philadelphia is coming along. The 6-foot-8 swingman, who left Kansas after his freshman season, was not available to the reporters who gathered Monday outside the Sixers...

The Sporting News ranked the top 10 shooting guards in the 2014-15 season. Kansas’ Wayne Selden came in at No. 5. Here is what Mike Decourcy of Sporting News had to say about Wayne: Size: 6-5, 230 pounds Class: Sophomore Stats: 9.7 ppg, 2.5 apg There was a stretch midway through last season when it seemed possible that Selden would remember how truly talented he is and play...

Cavalier NBA Draft Film Room: Andrew Wiggins

In my second of three NBA Draft options for the Cavaliers with the top pick, I take a look at Kansas forward Andrew Wiggins. Last week, I analyzed film for Duke forward Jabari Parker, who impressed me immensely with his diverse offensive package. Next week, stay tuned for a breakdown of Kansas center Joel Embiid. Wiggins is an incredibly talented player with plenty of still untapped...

Cavaliers - Embiid, Wiggins or trade down?

As bad as things seem for Cleveland basketball, in all reality, the team finished 10th in the eastern conference and was just five games out of the No. 8 slot. With the NBA draft just around the corner, and Cleveland owning the No. 1 overall pick, most mock-drafts have the Cavaliers selecting either Kansas center Joel Embiid or Kansas small forward Andrew Wiggins? from PanicButton

Will Bill Self's NBA credentials be forever tied to the fates of Wiggins and Embiid?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Of all its hallowed, gothic charms, perhaps the most remarkable single feature about Allen Fieldhouse is that it remains one of the few places in America where the floor is almost as high as the ceiling. Kansas won 25 games this past winter, notched a 10th straight Big 12 regular-season title and landed a 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. And that was a "down...

Thaddeus Young being shipped to Cleveland on draft day is not 'out of the question'

Check out the original article from, here. --Thaddeus Young may be approaching his last days as a member of the Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers. It...
