In June, Louisville senior center Stephan Van Treese was looking for a new team after news broke that he would be transferring. Six months later, SVT is back with the team and will be counted on more than ever. With Gorgui Dieng out for 4-to-6 weeks with a wrist injury, Van Treese’s decision to finish his career at Louisville means more than anyone expected. Van Tresse is coming off one of his best career performances against Duke in the championship game of the Battle 4 Atlantis. He played a season high 21 minutes, scoring 8 points on 4-of-5 shooting and grabbing 8 rebounds (5 offensive). I don’t think I was the only one a little surprised to see Coach Pitino go with Zach Price in Dieng’s absence, rather than Van Treese. Price has played well in the limited minutes he’s gotten this season, but Van Treese is a senior with valuable experience and has actually started games in his career.
