Syracuse might not be certain yet who will replace Jonny Flynn at point guard, but either way the answer might be a pleasant one.
SU started freshman Brandon Triche at the point in Saturday's exhibition win over Cal State-Los Angeles and spelled him with redshirt sophomore Scoop Jardine. Together, they combined for 14 assists and zero turnovers.
The two players represent a distinct change from Flynn, a dynamic playmaker who specialized in getting the ball to the lane and either dumping off to teammates or scoring himself. The Syracuse staff doesn't expect as much of that from the new points, but they should be more focused on the feeding the ball into the low post and not trying to force action.
The coaches were especially pleased with how Jardine handled coming off the bench. He missed last season with a stress fracture and had some minor offcourt issues as a freshman. But the 11 assists he recorded in his return to the SU s...
