Temple wants to shed its one-and-done reputation in the NCAA tournament.
The ninth-seeded Owls (23-9) are in the tournament for the sixth straight season. In four of the last five, they were knocked out in their first game, including a 58-54 loss to South Florida last year when they had a No. 5 seed.
They'll play eighth-seeded North Carolina State (24-10) on Friday.
Temple expects to have forward Anthony Lee - its top rebounder - back for the game, but coach Fran Dunphy isn't sure how much he'll play. Lee was tested for a possible concussion last week. He'll be needed against the Wolfpack's bigger front line.
N.C. State is commemorating the 30th anniversary of its national title under Jim Valvano.

On Thursday afternoon, the 9th-seeded Temple Owls basketball squad engaged in a down-to-the-wire battle with the 8th-seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack. The Owls ultimately came out on top, winning by a score of 76-72, but if this guy’s antics during the game were any indication, perhaps no Temple Owls fan in attendance at University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio was more thrilled...
Khalif Wyatt grabbed his left thumb -- the one alarmingly wrapped in black support tape -- pulled it toward his stomach and grimaced.
His non-shooting hand dangled uselessly as he set up behind the free-throw line. He carefully placed it on the bottom of the ball, cautiously dribbled a couple times, then put both hands on it and let it fly.
Painful, but perfect.
Then, he did it...

Currently, Temple appears to be on their way to beating NC State in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament and Deadspin's Timothy Burke captured this Temple supporter freaking out during the game in Dayton, Ohio:
One-and-done. Temple knows that's become its reputation when it comes to the NCAA tournament, leaving the Owls with an overriding goal for their trip to Dayton.
They want to leave town with no clean clothes after a weekend-long stay.

This Temple Owls fan may be rocking a bit too hard during the team's March Madness showdown against the NC State Wolfpack.
Khalif Wyatt knows the record.
So does Fran Dunphy.
The Temple men’s basketball team is 1-6 in the NCAA Tournament the last six years, the only win coming two seasons ago when Juan Fernandez beat Penn State with a last-second shot.
Now the Owls have another chance to make a run, though it will be challenging.
