PLAYERS: Cody Zeller
TEAMS: Indiana Hoosiers
Disclaimer: I find it pretty ridiculous that I am writing these words. I find it even more outrageous that I spent a good portion of my afternoon watching a nine-second video over and over and over again to try to determine if Derrick Nix did or did not hit Indiana’s Cody Zeller on purpose Tuesday night. But with that being said, it’s an interesting topic for debate the day after one of the best college basketball games of the season. The play in question, of course, occurred during the second half of Tuesday night’s game. Zeller and Nix were standing side by side in the post, and suddenly Zeller leveled over holding his mid-section and looking to the official for a call. The play was reviewed, but no flagrant foul was called on Nix. So, what happened? Well, if you watch this video, you’ll see that Zeller has a hold of Nix’s left arm and seems to lightly pull it toward him. Some have called it a “dirty move” by Zeller and perceived that Zeller hit himself in the midsection with Nix’...

Michigan State basketball falls short to No. 1 Indiana at home

EAST LANSING — Unfortunately for Michigan State basketball fans, there won’t be a “R.I.P ta da competition” popping up on your timeline tonight, a phrase that senior Derrick Nix tweets after every MSU victory. However, one thing Spartan fans did get tonight is one of the best basketball games of the season, even if it wasn’t in MSU’s favor. Led by Victor Oladipo’s 19...

Did Cody Zeller and Derrick Nix exchange groin shots, or did they fake reactions?

Derrick Nix was scolded by ESPN announcer Dick Vitale for an “immature action” he supposedly committed against Cody Zeller during Indiana’s 72-68 win over Michigan State Tuesday, but video replays suggest Zeller may have been at fault. Before we get into the play that resulted in a reaction from Vitale, let’s start with the play that set things up. Matters appeared to start...

Derrick Nix vs. Cody Zeller in a Cheap Shot War (Videos)

Great game last night to say the least between the #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers and the #4 ranked Michigan State Spartans.  Victor Oladipo lead the way for the Hoosiers with a couple big plays down the stretch, and dropped 19 points in their 72-68 win over Michigan State. Derrick Nix vs. Cody Zeller might have been even more interesting than the game itself.  Both players gave...

Oladipo leads No. 1 Indiana past No. 4 MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. On two legs, Victor Oladipo might be the best player in college basketball. As it turns out, the Indiana junior guard isn't bad on one leg, either. Playing on a sprained ankle, Oladipo capped a big game by scoring six points in the final 45 seconds, allowing top-ranked Indiana to escape with its first win at Michigan State in 22 years, 72-68 on Tuesday...

Probably not something a priest should say

Tonight, the Michigan St Spartans host the Indiana Hoosiers in what is being billed as the biggest game of the year in the B1G, until next week. Anyway, Sparty fans are pretty pumped up about this game, and their fans are taking to Twitter, even priests. This is an actual tweet by Father Joseph Krupp of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hillsdale, MI. It isn’t the best usage...

Michigan State’s Cedar Village burns couches after loss to Indiana

Cedar Village is definitely one of the more famous college apartment communities, particularly in the midwest.  There have been plenty of riots there after Michigan State victories and losses.  Last night was rather mild since only three couches and one dumpster were burned after their loss to the #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers.  According to mlive.com, “MSU basketball losses and...
