Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals will host the South Florida Bulls this afternoon as Stan Heath’s team will be looking for their first Big East win of the season. The Bulls are 9-5 overall and 0-2 in league play. They’re coming off a 53-61 home loss to Villanova. USF has won seven of their last ten games. Two of their five losses have come against ranked opponents. Rick Pitino is 11-2 in his career against South Florida, but lost the last meeting with the Bulls 58-51 on Senior Night last season. USF ended the 2011-12 with some momentum, but it hasn’t carried over quite as much as some expected this season. The Bulls are led by junior forward Victor Rudd who is averaging 11 points and 8 rebounds per game. Point guard Anthony Collins is second in the Big East in assists (7.5), ranks fourth in assists-to-turnovers ratio (3.03) and is seventh in steals (1.9). Pitino zeroes in on defense, Louisville smothers South Florida

The University of Louisville and South Florida basketball programs have met 30 times since 1985, with UofL winning 26 times, but none of them more satisfying than the 64-38 crushing of the visiting Bulls Saturday. Typically the games have been in slow motion, USF agonizing every minute out of the clock with slowdown basketball, attempting to lull participants and onlookers into dreamland...

South Florida-Louisville Preview

Louisville coach Rick Pitino and South Florida's Stan Heath know how important the tempo will be in this weekend's Big East matchup. The Bulls stunned the Cardinals on the road last season, and it will be even more surprising if they end the nine-game win streak of Pitino's third-ranked club in Saturday's rematch at Louisville. The Cardinals (14-1, 2-0) have bad...

Chane Behanan Expected To Play Tomorrow Against South Florida

Rick Pitino shared some pretty surprising news this afternoon as he met with the media to preview Louisville’s match-up with South Florida tomorrow afternoon. Just two days after announcing that starting forward Chane Behanan would miss seven-to-ten days and possibly miss up to four games with a sprained ankle, Pitino now says he expects Behanan to play tomorrow. Coach Pitino says...

Marquette about to face another road test

The road has not been kind to Marquette. Though the Golden Eagles have played just two true road games this season, the results in both have been dreadful. First came an 82-49 drubbing at the hands of then-No. 7 Florida. Two weeks later, Marquette struggled mightily in a 49-47 upset loss to UW-Green Bay. Now, as Marquette prepares to play its Big East road opener Saturday at Pittsburgh...

Louisville-UConn Preview

While Louisville handled its first three Big East foes with relative ease, coach Rick Pitino's team could be in for a tough test Monday night. Hoping to open 4-0 in conference play for the first time in four seasons, the No. 3 Cardinals visit Hartford trying for a sixth victory in seven matchups with a Connecticut club coming off arguably its most impressive win to date. After...
