Top 100 Center AJ Hammons Commits to Purdue

There’s no mistaking A.J. Hamnons’ game. The 7′-0″, 260 pound center knows exactly who he is on the basketball court, a true center. It isn’t as if 7-footers with skills are growing on trees, and that group of basketball players are in high demand. Hammons, a native of Indiana at Oak Hill Academy (VA), will be returning to his home state for college, as he has committed to Purdue, according to GoldandBlack.com. Hammons becomes the fourth prospect in the Boilermaker’s 2012 recruiting class, joining power forward Jay Simpson, and guards Ronnie Johnson and Rapheal Davis. Hammons was higher touted early on in high school, but has slipped in player rankings formulated by national scouts over the last couple years. He is talented and reasonably skilled, but at times takes plays off and drifts though games.
