Top 10 players: Big East Michael Carter-Williams  SG  Syracuse- 2.7pts 1.5reb. Williams only played sparingly as a freshman, but showed glimpses of the phenomenal talent he can be. His jump shot is smooth and efficient, but it’s his passing and vision that really makes him special. If he adds some bulk a top teen pick will be in his future. Peyton Siva  PG  Louisville- 9.1pts. 5.6ast. There isn’t anything flashy about his game, but Siva knows how to get the job done. He uses his quickness and high basketball IQ to overwhelm opposing guards. One of the best on-the-ball defenders in college basketball. Vincent Council  PG  Providence- 15.9pts 6.7ast. Council put up outstanding numbers last year, but Providence still struggled in conference play. He has a solid nucleus around him now, which gives them a realistic shot at making the tournament. Trey Zeigler  SG  Pittsburgh- Transfer/Central Michigan Zeigler comes over from Central Michigan after their coach, his father, was fired. He’s eligible right away which is good for Pitt. Zeigler can handle the ball, shoot, and drive and could challenge for Big East Player of the Year. Jack Cooley  PF  Notre Dame- 12.5pts. 8.9reb. Cooley is a warrior in the paint on both ends of the floor. His intangibles are through the roof, but he needs to become a more consistent shooter. Otto Porter  PF  Georgetown- 9.7pts. 6.8reb. Porter showed flashes of brilliance last year, which is why he’s a lot of people’s favorite to breakout this year. I’m not quite as sold on him, but I do think his size and athleticism are intriguing. Sean Kilpatrick  SG  Cincinnati- 14.3pts. 4.6reb. Kilpatrick quietly had a very impressive season in 2011. Cincinnati’s four guard attack sometimes makes it difficult to distinguish one player as the standout, but Kilpatrick’s shooting ability and physical style keep opposing defenses honest. D’Angelo Harrison  PG  St.John’s- 17.0pts. 3.9reb. He put up monster numbers as a freshman, but that might be because they didn’t have a lot of other options. Harrison will be surrounded by a full team this year, and will need to shoot better and create more opportunities for his teammates this season. LaDontae Henton  SG  Providence- 14.3pts. 8.3reb. Henton is a beast. He’s an able shooter, but above all he just knows how to score. One of the most tenacious rebounders in the nation, and will only improve with a year of experience under his belt. Shabazz Napier  PG  Connecticut- 13.0pts. 5.8ast. Napier has the talent to be on the top of this list, but just hasn’t put it all together yet. It will even tougher for him to uncap his full potential with Calhoun gone, but maybe a change is all he needs. Top 5 freshmen Stephen Adams  C  Pittsburgh- Adams will step in and start right away. Pitt hasn’t had much luck with their last two top 10 recruits, but the sky is the limit for this 7-footer. DaJuan Coleman  C  Syracuse- Coleman is a monster on the boards, but needs to develop his offensive game a bit more. Ife does that he will have a short college career. Ricardo Ledo  SG Providence- If he’s deemed eligible Ledo could be the player that takes Providence over the top. Kris Dunn  PG  Providence- Dunn will have to start at the two if Ledo can’t play, which won’t affect his athletic game. JaKarr Sampson  PF  St.John’s- Sampson will make his college debut this year instead of last year. And his presence in the paint will be very needed for this guard heavy team.
