Transferring Tennessee forward visits Michigan

Transferring Tennessee forward Olivier Nkamhoua visited Michigan on Friday, according to a tweet from On3 National Recruiting Expert Joe Tipton.

"Expected to visit Baylor after his trip to Ann Arbor. Plans to make a decision by Sunday or Monday, but could be delayed," Tipton wrote. "Previously visited West Virginia and Kansas State. Memphis has also been involved."

Nkamhoua, a former 3-star prospect from Helsinki, Finland, played four seasons with the Volunteers. The 6-foot-9-inch forward took the court in 112 games during his time in the program, making 58 starts. He logged averages of 6.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and one assist per game while at Tennessee. Nkamhoua withdrew from the 2023 NBA Draft on Wednesday.

Should he ultimately commit to an Ann Arbor transfer, the forward would join a 2023 Michigan class that currently features two transfers and one player who signed his letter of intent. Nkamhoua, Seton Hall forward Tray Jackson and Alabama guard Nimari Burnett figure to add depth and even take potential starting spots after Wolverines guard Kobe Bufkin and forward Jett Howard declared for the 2023 NBA Draft. The team also lost center Hunter Dickinson to Kansas in May, after he spent three seasons at Michigan.

Adding Nkamhoua to a West Virginia transfer class that already includes five transfers, meanwhile, would help boost a roster that went 19-15 overall this past season and will lose key players before the next campaign gets underway. He could provide valuable experience to a class which includes a trio of four-star transfers, including Syracuse center Jesse Edwards.

West Virginia guards Erik Stevenson, Kedrian Johnson and forward Emmitt Matthews Jr. have all exhausted their eligibility, according to Mountaineers Now. Stevenson led the Mountaineers with 15.4 points per game last season, while Johnson placed first on the squad in assists per game with 3.1. For his part, Matthews was third on the team in rebounds per contest with 3.9 boards.
