The drama surrounding the mysterious Gucci Bag of freshman Shabazz Muhammad is under control in UCLA’s eyes.  According to ESPN L.A. the Bruins have confirmed that Muhammad received the gift from his family. Muhammad was seen wearing an expensive Gucci backpack during the post game presser following the Bruins big win over Arizona. Trying to avoid embarrassment and another suspension for Muhammad, the university chose to look into the matter themselves. “The UCLA Athletics Compliance Office has confirmed that men’s basketball players Shabazz Muhammad and Kyle Anderson (who also had a designer model backpack) received items in question as gifts from their respective families, and the matter is closed,” UCLA’s athletic department said in a statement Friday night. The report from ESPN says that most Bruin athletes wear a backpack with the school logo, the sport they play, and their number on the bag. Muhammad surprised many when he was spotted wearing the designer backpack that ranges anywhere from $990 to $2,370 in price. No one inquired about the back during the interview session, and no one knows for sure if it was real or fake.  Muhammad’s sister, Asia Muhammad, who is a professional tennis player, sent a tweet to Pat Forde who broke the story, and says she and her mom got the bag for Shabazz as a gift. “I have the original receipt if you need to verify that,” Asia Muhammad wrote to Forde. “[Shabazz] doesn’t need anything from anyone except his family. … You’re barking up the wrong tree on this one.”
