John Calipari's new-look Kentucky Wildcats took the floor last night for the first of two exhibition games this season, facing off against the Campbellsville Tigers in Rupp Arena. The Cats showed lots of potential despite some sloppy play (especially in the 2nd half), downing the Tigers 74-38. Darnell Dodson (pic'd) was the surprise game MVP, putting up a nice offensive showing with 19 points, going 7-of-14 from the field and 2-of-6 from long distance. Dodson showed lots of aggression in taking the ball to the basket as well as shooting from the outside (sometimes whether he was open or not). Dodson also tallied 6 rebounds. Freshman point guard John Wall did not play, sitting out as part of a suspension from the NCAA for accepting illegal benefits from an AAU coach. Wall's fellow freshman guard Eric Bledsoe filled in the starting point guard role nicely, putting up an impressive line of 9 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks in 29 minutes.
