The Utes will be in search of a new head coach for next season after the university made the decision to fire head coach Jim Boylen.

A national search will begin immediately for Boylen's replacement as Utah's move into the Pac-12 next year comes off their second consecutive losing season.

Utah's season ended in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament at the hands of San Diego State. The Utes finished the season at 13-18 overall and 6-10 within the conference.

In four seasons at the helm, Boylen was 69-60 overall with his most successful season coming in 2008-2009 as Utah earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Utah was 24-10 overall that year.

Before taking the position at Utah, Boylen was an assistant at Michigan State under current head coach Tom Izzo. Boylen has had prior coaching stints in the NBA before moving to the collegiate level.

With the move into the Pac-12, next season should certainly be interesting for this Utah program. Will be they able to compete in the power conference? How long will take for Utah to emerge within the Pac-12? And now, who will be leading them?

Athletic director Chris Hill thanked and appreciated the efforts of Boylen during his tenure at Utah and said the university will now look to find their coach of the future.
