The first of today’s Final Four games led to some serious excitement. Leading 70-68 with eight seconds left to play, Louisville’s Luke Hancock was headed to the line for two free throws — a chance to make it a two-possession game. Hancock calmly sank the first three throw, but his second attempt hit the back iron. Wichita State’s Ron Baker grabbed the rebound and turned to go up the floor, when he ran into Hancock, whom was trying to steal the ball. The zebras quickly whistled for a “jump ball” — of course, the possession arrow was pointing to Louisville. The Cardinals iced the game at the charity stripe. Here’s a GIF of the tie-up call — Twitter erupted and thought the refs blew the whistle way too early. What do you think? That was a horrible jump ball call by the refs which ruined a great game and exciting ending. I hate when bad calls determine the outcome. — Jonah Lupton (@JonahLupton) April 7, 2013 Can’t wait for the Head of Officiating to be on the post game show to admit that jump ball call was incorrect. Which CBS always does…? — SoleCollector.com (@SoleCollector) April 7, 2013 College has to make the move and let a jump ball actually be a jump ball. Can’t let it be decided on a possession arrow anymore. — Mike Scarzafava(@mscarzafava12) April 7, 2013 Bad jump ball gave Louisville the arrow only because of an even worse double foul call. Wichita State deserved better. — Jeremy Hartigan (@Cornell_SID) April 7, 2013
