Tennessee Lady Vols head coach Pat Summitt is the all-time winningest coach in the history of NCAA basketball. The 59-year-old Summitt spoke during SEC Media Day for the first time since her diagnosis with early onset dementia. She’s proving why she’s a winner.
“Every day I can't wait to get on the court," Summitt said. "I'm not ready to retire. I may be old as dirt when I'm still trying to win games.”
Summitt’s Lady Vols have won 1,037 games, made 18 Final Four appearances and captured eight national titles. The Lady Vols are the favorites to defend their SEC title this year.
"What I want everybody to know is that I'm doing great," she said. "Everyday I get up and I want to go to work. That's what keeps me going.”
