Sugar Bowl’s Selection of Virginia Tech Even More Questionable

A few weeks ago the Virginia Tech Hokies were selected as an at-large team to the Sugar Bowl despite a two loss season waxed up with a lot of weak wins. Their reasoning? We want to sell tickets. That seemed like a good idea at the time, except the Hokies haven’t bought tickets. As of Friday they had sold about 9,200 of 17,500. What? They’re playing in a big time bowl game,...

Virginia Tech CB Jayron Hosley likely turning pro

According to the Washington Post, Virginia Tech Hokies cornerback Jayron Hosley is likely headed to the NFL. Hosley is waiting to hear back from the NFL Draft Advisory Committee, but stated “right now my mind is I’m moving on after this season.” Depending on who else turns pro at his position, Hosley may be considered 1st-round pick by some teams, but could come off the board...

Virginia Tech, West Virginia lagging in bowl ticket sales

One of dumbest things about the bowl system, especially the BCS bowls, is the designated ticket allotment that many bowl organizations make schools purchase upon getting the bid. For the five BCS games, it’s ridiculous and nothing more than another way to weasel more money out of where it belongs: with the school. Most of…

Both have NFL futures to consider, and while Wilson, the Hokies' starting tailback, is undecided about declaring early for the draft, Hosley, ...

ACC Morning Linkfest 12/12

On Sunday, four ACC teams were in action and while it wasn't always pretty, the ACC picked up four wins.  FSU let UNCG hang around for a little too long (within 2 pts with 10 minutes to go) before Michael Snaer opened things up with a few 3 pt shots.  It seems clear that the Seminoles really need guys to make perimeter jumpshots.  When Snaer knocked down a couple, it opened...
