Washington Huskies Pay Record-Setting NIL Deal For Great Osobor
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Huskies have landed one of the top available players in the transfer portal, veteran forward Great Osobor. In the ever-changing landscape of college athletics, it was not cheap for the Huskies to come away with the veteran big man.

According to reports at ESPN, Great Osobor agreed to record-setting NIL deals when committing to the program. He will be earning $2 million through those deals, which were negotiated by his agent George Langberg of GSL Sports.

“I would like to thank God for putting me in this position,” Osobor said. “Washington will allow me to maximize my potential as a player in my final year of college basketball. Coach [Danny] Sprinkle has been with me every step of the way since I came from England, and I cannot wait to help the Huskies get back to the NCAA tournament.”

Great Osobor has come a long way in his college basketball career. He spent his first two seasons coming off the bench at Montana State, where he was recruited by Danny Sprinkle. When Sprinkle went to Utah State, Osobor followed him and that is the case again while landing at Washington, where Sprinkle was hired as head coach.

Before choosing the Washington Huskies, Osobor was also recruited by Louisville and Texas Tech. But, the opportunity to continue his career playing under Sprinkle won out, as offers from Louisville and Texas Tech were similar to the one Osobor received from Washington.

“It’s a blessing to be put in the position I am in now, and I look forward to using my platform to proudly represent my family and be a role model to my two younger sisters,” Osobor said.

Last season, Great Osobor was a key part of the Utah State team that earned an at-large bid for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. He was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, averaging 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals per game.

He is joining an impressive group of new additions to the Washington Huskies program. Five-star point guard Zoom Diallo and four-star shooting guard Jase Butler are incoming freshmen. In the transfer portal, the team also landed Mekhi Mason, DJ Davis, Luis Kortright, Franck Kepnang and Tyler Harris.
